Second Chance-Happy Tales

This is our favorite page on the website! Dogs in this section have found a happy home with their adoptive families through Second Chance. Once you have adopted a dog through Second Chance Dog Rescue, we would love to post your "Happy Tails" story and pictures here. Please email your stories and pictures to Lisa.

Second Chance Dog Rescue is proud to announce the following adoptions that have taken place since 2004. Most of the dogs that come into Second Chance Dog Rescue were either on their final days or very close to it. Each of the dogs that are taken into the rescue are examined by the vet and provided with all shots, as well as they are neutered or spayed and heartworm tested. The majority of the dogs are often very sick and may also need time to just "feel better". For many of you that adopted from us, our house was just the first step; your home has become your new pet's final step in finding his/her "forever home". Hopefully, as time has gone on, your new friend is settling in and the pain that we once saw in his eyes is turning into the joy of knowing that his forever home is one that is filled with love and security.

To read our happy tails simply click on the first letter of the dog's name to see the happy tails of all the dogs whose name begins with that letter.

ot sure if you remember us (Chris and Catherine Gardner); we adopted Kayla, a black lab puppy from you 4 years ago (the litter was born in early April 2005). I got your newsletter today, and just wanted to share with you that Kayla is healthy and doing well, always full of energy and fun. She loves to "stalk" the crickets and other small critters that hide in the tall grasses and shrubs at the back of our yard. She and big sis Jasmine (husky) "hunt" together almost every day. Besides patrolling the yard, her favorite activities are playing fetch and play-dates with her boyfriends- Clancy (golden retriever) and Baxter (mixed breed ???). Glad to hear the rescue organization is doing well!

Take care, Catherine

Kenobi is so sweet and cute. He was definitely the right pick for us!! I knew he would be from the beginning:) The kids and even Rusty has become best of friends.

Hi Lisa, I just wanted to let you know that Kenobi is doing good:) Such a good boy. Autumn is so missed, I think he looks for her. He was very sad the day she passed. My neighbor Liz was here and said he knew that day. Liz helps take care of him. She loves him so much, she gives him green beans every morning after his walk, which he loves. He also knows the words "green beans" and gb's. :) He is extremely smart and loving and playful. I am glad we have him in our family and his kitty friends, who rub his face and bump his chin for love.

Well I am going to get up. I hear Liz downstairs emptying my dishwasher (she has been a blessing). Take care, hugs. Angie

Hi Lisa,

Just a note to let you know how Kenzie is doing. We took her to the beach in June and she loved it. Digging in the sand was her favorite thing. I am sending some pictures. The one laying on sofa is after a day on beach, ha ha. She is a really a sweet dog. She sure has made our house come alive. Every where we go people want to know what breed of dog she is. They say she sure is a pretty little dog. People have stopped me on our walks and asked what kind and how cute. Even the people beside of us at the beach asked. Well thanks again for for our little girl. She has really changed her looks. Well hope everyone is good at your house. Thanks again.
