Second Chance-Happy Tales

This is our favorite page on the website! Dogs in this section have found a happy home with their adoptive families through Second Chance. Once you have adopted a dog through Second Chance Dog Rescue, we would love to post your "Happy Tails" story and pictures here. Please email your stories and pictures to Lisa.

Second Chance Dog Rescue is proud to announce the following adoptions that have taken place since 2004. Most of the dogs that come into Second Chance Dog Rescue were either on their final days or very close to it. Each of the dogs that are taken into the rescue are examined by the vet and provided with all shots, as well as they are neutered or spayed and heartworm tested. The majority of the dogs are often very sick and may also need time to just "feel better". For many of you that adopted from us, our house was just the first step; your home has become your new pet's final step in finding his/her "forever home". Hopefully, as time has gone on, your new friend is settling in and the pain that we once saw in his eyes is turning into the joy of knowing that his forever home is one that is filled with love and security.

To read our happy tails simply click on the first letter of the dog's name to see the happy tails of all the dogs whose name begins with that letter.

Daisy Duke

Dear Lisa,

Daisy has learned sit, shake, lie down, and rollover. She does not understand "stay" yet. She loves to run while carrying a Frisbee (or anything really) in her mouth, and she likes to walk on the piano keys while I'm playing. She's so sweet and so funny, I can't imagine anyone would ever want to give her up. I feel lucky to have found her, and I have you to thank for it.

ust a quick long over-due note on Diva, She's absolutely great. She's still the baby girl in the house. We've discovered she loves to hang out in the pool (on the board) w/ us, she loves boating, chasing the cats, eating cat food, un-deniable-ly hates to have her nails clipped, loves sleeping in a doll bed in Julia's room, loves a good bath, and hanging out w/ Romeo (the Parrot), she loves to eat bird poop. Yes, she does. Anyway I could go on on she's got lots of spunk & personality & is right at home here- no matter what we do she hangs w us! I hope all is well. Just Passing along good news.

It has been almost 5 years since I got Dixie from you and she is just like family. She actually listens better than my kids do. Anyway I figured I would let you know how she is doing. Talk to you later.

Thanks - David

Doug (Formerly Buster)

We just love this dog! Thank you so much! Have a great 2005!

Hello Lisa, I just wanted to drop you a picture of Doug, who I adopted from you in December of 2005. He was called Buster and he had a brother Joey. He is 35 lbs and long and lean. He lives in Portland, Oregon and is getting ready for the busy dog contest season so he can meet some new friends.

Hope you are doing well. Sherrie Edwards

Duncan (formerly David)

Hi Lisa, I received the remainder of David's paperwork - thank you sending it. His name now is Duncan, and he has learned it and responds ( when he wants to).

Just wanted to let you know that he is very happy here with myself and Penny. The enjoy playing together - sometimes they wrestle on the back deck, and often Duncan lays in a shallow dirt hole in the back and Penny races around him. Of course, he continues to enjoy his walk each day. I wish I could say that he has slimmed down some, but he is still a substantial fellow. Despite that, he can get quite frisky, and definitely wants his share of the attention, coming over frequently for a petting and plopping down for a stomach rub if he thinks he can get one. He carries on whenever I come home - I can hear him howling in the house when I pull up each day and he and Penny race each other back and forth between the doors to be the first to greet me. Thank you for the opportunity to adopt him - he is a very special fellow and believe me well-loved. Wasn't sure of his birthday so he and Penny celebrated together on hers - I don't think he was excited about his hat but he was very happy with his cupcake.

Sincerely, Julia
